My name is Brecken Ralston-Walsh and I am in 10th grade at Belvidere High School in Belvidere, Illinois. I have been playing softball since I was seven years old and ever since my first practice in 8U, I have desired to play at the collegiate level. Softball has provided me with many amazing opportunities, and I have grown immensely as an athlete. I have had the privilege of playing for excellent coaches and I have met so many players along the way, whom I can proudly call my friends.
My coaches tell me that I am known for being a coachable athlete, my high softball IQ, and my ability to be placed in pressure filled situations and deliver results. I was the #4 batter in the Stateline Fury lineup for the 2023-2024 softball season. While my primary positions are 3rd base and catcher, I have played middle infield and outfield due to teammate injuries or illnesses. I am always willing to step up to the challenge and do what is best for my team.
I was born a leader and I always strive to set a good example for those around me, both on and off the field. I am a leader on my team, always encouraging my teammates and being positive when they are down. I volunteer as an assistant coach of an 8U softball team. I work hard to be a good role model and a player these young athletes look up too.
As a two-sport athlete (high school softball, travel softball, high school volleyball, and club volleyball), I have learned how to balance my education and sports load. I understand that my education is of primary importance. I have been enrolled in a full immersion Spanish Dual Language program since Kindergarten. I spend one half of my school day taking classes in Spanish and I am fully bilingual. I intend to continue with my Spanish studies throughout my college career. I study hard to maintain a high GPA and I am always willing to put in the extra work and time it takes to maintain good grades. I was a member of National Junior Honor Society in 7th and 8th grade. I look forward to participating in additional clubs throughout my high school career.
I am open to all opportunities presented to me and my goal is to ultimately find the college that is the best fit for me, academically, athletically, and socially. I desire to play at the highest level possible, positively impacting myself and the college I attend. When I graduate from college, I want to look back at my college career and be able to say that I was a successful student, successful athlete, and a strong role model to all those around me.
I appreciate you taking the opportunity to review my profile and I look forward to learning more about your school and softball program in the future.
